Emre Çaylak is a freelance photojournalist based in Istanbul/Turkey. He is focussing on foreign reporting and works on conflict, social and environmental issues.
Emre received the Olin grant by Netzwerk Recherche with his partner Nicole Graaf in 2017/2018. With help of this grant, they are working on an ongoing multimedia project about the highly endangered vaquita whale in Mexico. On the grant panel, they will reveal how the vaquita's fate is connected to the Mexican mafia and the obscure market for traditional medicine in China.
